डॉ. अम्बेडकर सशक्त, निर्भीक एवं साहसी व्यक्तित्व के साथ-साथ गम्भीर समीक्षक, मौलिक चिन्तक और तेजस्वी वक्ता भी थे। उनका विषद् अध्ययन था। पीड़ित बन्धुओं की आँखों को देखकर उनका मन दुःखी हो उठा। अपनी सुख-सुविधा को छोड़ कर जीवन भर उपेक्षित बन्धुओं के अधिकारों के लिये संघर्ष करते रहे। उपेक्षा और तिरस्कार के बावजूद समाज को छोड़ने अथवा तोड़ने का विचार कभी भी नहीं आया। आदि से अन्त तक प्रखर देशभक्ति का ही परिचय दिया। उन्होंने अपने व्यक्तित्व को हिंसा तथा आतंकवाद के साथ कभी नहीं जोड़ा। कानून की सीमाओं के अन्तर्गत हो वह सामाजिक, आर्थिक और राजनैतिक परिवर्तन के समर्थक थे।
