ప్రపంచంలోనే ఎత్తైన పర్వత ప్రాంతాలలో ఇటీవల కాలంలో భీకరంగా జరిగిన యుద్ధం కార్గిల్. అంతకు ముందు చైనా – రష్యా మధ్య జరిగిన యుద్ధం తర్వాత అణ్వస్త్రాలు గల రెండు దేశాల మధ్య జరిగిన యుద్ధం ఇది. అత్యంత క్లిష్టమైన భూభాగంలో, దొంగచాటుగా ప్రవేశించిన శత్రు సేనలను పారద్రోలడం కోసం మన సైనికులు ప్రదర్శించిన అసమానమైన వీరోచిత సహస, పరాక్రమాలు ఎల్లప్పుడూ గుర్తుంటాయి.
ఈ యుద్ధంలో అంతర్జాతీయంగా పాకిస్థాన్ ను ఏకాకిగా చేసి, తమంతట తామే తోకముడిచి బేషరతుగా వెనుదిరిగేటట్లు చేయడంలో మన రాజకీయ నాయకత్వం సహితం విశేషమైన దౌత్యాన్ని, రాజనీతిజ్ఞతను ప్రదర్శించింది. ఈ యుద్ధంలో మనం సాధించిన ఘన విజయంతో పాటు సైనికపరంగా మన దేశం ఎదుర్కొంటున్న అనేక లోపాలు, రక్షణ వ్యవస్థను ఆధునీక్రయించవలసిన అవసరం వంటి పలు గుణపాఠాలు కూడా ఈ యుద్ధం నేర్పింది. యుద్ధం జరిగి 20 ఏళ్ళు అయిన సందర్భంగా ఈ అంశాలతో హైదరాబాద్ కు చెందిన ఆలోచనాపరుల వేదిక `సోషల్ కాజ్’ తెలుగులో “కార్గిల్ యుద్ధం – ఓ విజయం, ఓ గుణపాఠం’ పేరుతో ఒక పుస్తకాన్ని ప్రచురిస్తున్నది. 2019 జూన్ 26న విడుదల కానున్నది. రచయిత సీనియర్ జర్నలిస్ట్ చలసాని నరేంద్ర.
The Kargil war is one of the most recent examples of high altitude warfare in mountainous terrain. This was only the second direct ground war between any two countries after they had developed nuclear weapons, after the Sino-Soviet border conflict of 1969. It always remembered to the heroic struggle demonstrated by our men in uniform with their unmatched sacrifices giving most precious win to the country in most difficult terrain.
Our political leadership also showed unmatched diplomatic skills by isolating Pakistan internationally and forcing their forces to withdraw unconditionally. The war also brings several lessons to us with regard to our defense preparedness and also need for modernization of our forces. On the 20th anniversary of this war, Social Cause, a thinkers-forum in Hyderabad is bringing out a book in Telugu “Kargil Yuddam – O Vijayam, O Gunapatham”, written by senior journalist Sri Ch. Narendra. The book will be released on 2019 July 26 on `Vijay Diwas’.
