The word Yoga as we all know comes from the root word “yuj” or to connect , join. In the Srimad Bhagvad Gita, 2nd adhyaya, Sri Krishna explains “The equanimity that enables us to accept all circumstances with serenity is what is Yoga, or union with the Supreme. ”
Unfortunately, Yoga has been understood by many outside of Bharat as only a set of physical exercises which itself is a misunderstanding of Yogasana. Yogasana is part of the Ashtanga Yoga Ashtanga yoga as outlined by the sage Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. The eight limbs of Yoga: Yama [moral codes] ; Niyama [self-purification and study]; Asana [posture]; Pranayama [breath control]; Pratyahara [sense control] Dharana [concentration]; Dhyana [meditation]; Samadhi [absorption into the Universal.
