1921 ൽ ഉത്തര മലബാറിൽ ഇസ്ലാം ഭീകരർ നടത്തിയ അതിക്രൂരമായ ഹിന്ദുവംശഹത്യയാണ് മാപ്പിളലഹള. ഖിലാഫത്തിന്റെ പേരിൽ ആരംഭിച്ച പ്രക്ഷോഭം നേതൃത്വത്തിന്റെ കൈകളിൽ നിന്ന് വഴുതിമാറി നിഷ്ഠൂരമായ ഹിന്ദുപീഡനവും നരഹത്യയുമായി പരിണമിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

ഹൈന്ദവജനത നേരിട്ട ദാരുണമായ സംഭവങ്ങളുടെ ആഴം കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞ് വീര വിനായക ദാമോദര സാവർക്കർ “മാപ്പിള’ എന്ന പേരിൽ ഒരു നോവൽ രചിച്ചു. പ്രസ്തുത നോവലിന്റെ മലയാള പരിഭാഷയാണ് “മാപ്പിള’ എന്ന ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥം.

ലഹള നടന്നിട്ട് നൂറുവർഷം പിന്നിടുന്ന ഈ വേളയിൽ ഇപ്പോഴും മാപ്പിള ലഹളയെ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി ചിത്രീകരിക്കാനുള്ള ശ്രമങ്ങളാണ് നടന്നുവരുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ എന്തായിരുന്നു യഥാർത്ഥ വസ്തുതയെന്ന് പുതുതലമുറയ്ക്ക് മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാൻ ഈ ഗ്രന്ഥം ഉപകരിക്കുകതന്നെ ചെയ്യും.

In 1921, Mappilalahala was a brutal Hindu genocide committed by Islamic terrorists in North Malabar.  The agitation started in the name of Khilafat slipped out of the hands of the leadership and turned into brutal Hindu persecution and murder.

Veera Vinayaka Damodara Savarkar wrote a novel titled “Mapila” after realizing the depth of the tragic events faced by the Hindu people. This book “Mapila” is a Malayalam translation of the said novel.

A hundred years after the rebellion, efforts are still being made to portray the Mapila rebellion as a part of the freedom struggle.  But this book will help the new generation to understand what was the real fact.
